What an amazing opportunity to travel to Great Guana Cay in February to help with reconstruction projects after Hurricane Dorian on September 1 in the Bahamas. It was warm and the water is still so beautiful in the midst of obvious destruction of trees and structures. Progress is being made and the will to return the island to its natural beauty is very strong. I was so thankful that I could be there to help and hope to return again to offer whatever help is needed. Volunteer help will be needed for some time. I met some amazing people there as part of the volunteer group. Most of my work revolved around painting furniture to mitigate mold issues and pickling walls to help after mold mitigation was completed.
I had an hour or two to investigate the beautiful beaches on Guana Cay and had fun making a shell heart without my shoes--picture here.
